PRESS RELEASE
Columbia, S.C., Dec. 21, 2009 - Columbia Rotary Club President Lanier Jones inducted Charles C. Weathers Sr., president of The Weathers Group, into the organization on November 30. The Weathers Group is a business consultancy firm based in Columbia.
Rotary International is one of the world's largest service organizations, with 29,500 clubs in more than 160 countries. Worldwide, Rotary clubs worldwide invite a limited number of men and women to become members each year.
David Kunz, executive director of The Cooperative Ministry, nominated Weathers for membership. "In the years I've known Charles, I have admired his commitment to the community, not only in his role as a successful business leader, but as a concerned citizen. He is the 'go-to' expert on faith-based organizations and board governance in Columbia, and he donates hundreds of hours each year to local nonprofit organizations in an effort to make our city - and South Carolina - a better place to live and work," said Kunz.
Weathers' background includes two decades of board leadership and service, 15 years as a fundraising professional, and six years in the private sector. In addition, he has more than a decade of experience as a successful business entrepreneur. Weathers is a decorated veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
Weathers earned a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial technology, and is a 2010 MBA candidate.
